Position Summary
A Technical Specialist works under the general supervision of the Medical Director or designee and direct supervision of the Lead Technologist to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This position encompasses the technical and clinical requirements to assist in the operation daily functions of a comprehensive sleep center. A Technical Specialist can perform all the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technologist.

CPAP Clinic and Follow-Up Program, Scoring, Support Services, Customer Assessment, Safety Officer

Professional Issues
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification. Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrate appropriate social skills. Completion of all assigned training, competency, and performance improvement assignments. Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.

Secondary Functions
Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience working as a nighttime Polysomnographic Technologist. Thorough knowledge of scoring parameters and nationally accepted standards. Documentation of 50 records scoring using the accepted criteria.
